South Indians make a lot of upma. My Mom used to make a variety of upma. Rava upma,Rice/Morkali upma,Aval/Poha upma,Wheat/Godhuma rava upma, Semiya/Vermacelli upma. Semiya/Vermacelli is a tasty and simple upma, easy to make which gets done in 10 to 15 min.
Semiya/Vermacelli - 2 cups
Frozen/fresh Boiled Corn - 1/2 cup
Hot Water - 2 cups
Green Chillies - 2
Onions - 2
Curry and coriander leaves- 1 tsp
Oil - 2 tsp
Seasoning:-
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
Urad Dal - 1 tsp
Method:-
1. Heat Oil add seasoning once fried then add green chillies,curry leaves and onions and salt.
2.Once onion is nicely fried add vermacelli, and pour hot water. then add corn.
3. Once vermacelli is cooked and all water is dried switch off the stove and garnish with coriander leaves.
4. Tasty Semiya/vermacelli upma is ready. Serve hot with sambar or pickle or you can have it as it is.
